but the bird dances better than I ever will.
Some naughty PSA's informing the french populous on safe sex:
My first Mac is getting old. State of the art in the late summer of 2001, it is now increasingly showing it's age. Photoshop is sluggish, I can't even use World of Warcraft of even Second Life. But a healthy income tax refund, my birthday, an overdue upgrade to the entire Mac family and Leopard imminent release all seem to be converging for my benefit. I still won't be able to afford a new tower, but since the Mac Mini's are currently four times faster than my G4, I think one will suit me just fine.
I've also been more and more attuned to the happenings in the Open Source world. I have Gimp Inkscape (but prefer Adobe's offerings) and Open Office. I favour Firefox and Thunderbird over Safari and Mail. My Mom even downloaded Firefox on my suggestion. All by herself! Makes a son proud it does.
I like Mac's and OSX, I have no plans to switch right now. But I plan on converting my old G4 tower over to Ubuntu once it's replacement is established and seeing how close I can make it to a suitable regular machine. A KVM Switch will let me use the same keyboard, mouse and monitor, but I might need to do a little creative configuring when it comes to USB attachments.
If it wasn't for Adobe's CS, I probably could make the switch. But Gimp and Inkscape aren't there yet. They're still a little awkward and are missing some preferred features. I've also been watching Seashore, it shows some great promise. I'll try out every new version, they get better with every upgrade. Who knows, this may be my last Mac.
